The old landfill was covered up a few years ago to secure it. The area is currently fallow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A subsequent utilisation by a depot is currently being considered. To this end, M&amp;P prepared a variant study on the remediation and utilisation of the old landfill. The variant study was intended to serve as a general assessment of the redevelopment feasibility of the old landfill, including an implementation concept for subsequent reutilisation as a depot and the creation of a current cost framework.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with the client, various remediation options were determined and evaluated by M&amp;P. As there was a major lack of information regarding the geotechnical suitability of the in-situ soils and the chemical composition of the landfill material, small pile-driving boreholes, dynamic probing and pressure probing were carried out on site in autumn 2022 and soil samples were chemically and geotechnically analysed. M&amp;P drew up the occupational safety plan for the work, accompanied the tendering process for the field and laboratory work and provided expert advice on the field work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The feasibility study was then updated with regard to the refurbishment options and the cost framework in order to provide the client with a decision-making basis for further planning.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The approximately 3.8-hectare old landfill is located in the south of Hamburg in the Elbmarsch area.
