M&P Nord provides support with the planning, tendering and monitoring of explosive ordnance clearance measures
An architectural showpiece by ingenhoven architects, Düsseldorf, is being built in the harbour basin. The new structure will be founded on more than 180 piles, which will be drilled up to 20 metres into the water bed. There will also be 3 bridges to provide access. It will also be possible to reach the building from the water.
The harbour area was heavily bombed during the Second World War. Accordingly, explosive ordnance is suspected for the entire project, both in the water and in the area of the landside connections. M&P Nord has developed an exploratory and clearance concept and is currently working closely with the NRW Explosive Ordnance Clearance Service, Düsseldorf Regional Council, on the explosive ordnance inspection.
From mid-May 2022, more than 180 bored pile locations will be checked with deep soundings. The work will be carried out from a floating pontoon and requires a high degree of precision. The same naturally applies to all other explosive ordnance probing work on water and on land.
As M&P Nord, we are delighted to be able to contribute to the success of this unique project.
