DE On 12 July 2023, the EU Parliament voted in favour of the Nature Restoration Law, thereby setting an important milestone in European nature conservation. This law obliges all EU member states to restore degraded nature to a good ecological state and thus secure the existence of pollinators, natural resources, clean air and clean water.
This law helps biodiversity because it creates more space for nature and combats the climate crisis by protecting and restoring moors and forests as carbon sinks. It protects people from natural disasters such as droughts and floods because more space is created for nature and it also benefits people's health.
We think: A good law for nature all round!
