Desilting of six rainwater retention basins in Hanover

After M&P successfully supported the renovation of the Maschteich and Vierthaler Teich ponds on behalf of the state capital of Hanover from 2016 to 2017, six rainwater retention basins (RRB), mainly in Hanover's south-west district, are now to follow in order to sustainably improve their water quality.

In general, a total of approx. 10,000 m³ of sludge is to be pumped out of the RRBs in the coming winter months of 2018/2019 using a floatable suction vehicle, dewatered so that it is impermeable and then transported to the relevant recycling and disposal facilities in accordance with in situ sampling. Current work in January 2018 For the concept development and the preparation of the tender documents, site inspections of all six RRBs were carried out in order to take into account both infrastructural and species protection concerns as part of the tender. In addition, all RRBs were sampled in situ in consultation with the waste authority in order to be able to dispense with a declaration in containers as part of the actual desludging measure. This means that the material can be disposed of directly after appropriate treatment. On four days in January, close-meshed sampling of all RRBs was carried out from the boat using a sludge sampler. At the same time, a detailed survey of the RRBs was carried out. After analysing the data and coordinating with other authorities, the tender for the measure will be issued in February/March.
