The Osnabrück branch of Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH was commissioned with the preliminary investigation of the road and embankment areas at the flood trough bridge near Rhede (Ems).
As part of the framework agreement between Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH and the NLStBV Lingen, preparatory investigations of the asphalt, soil and concrete material in the construction area are to be carried out on the old Ems bridge on the L52/58.
The background to the measure is the upcoming construction of the new Ems and flood trough bridge and the examination of possible recycling and disposal routes for the material that will be produced when the old Ems bridge is demolished.
Various laboratory tests must be carried out to analyse possible disposal routes for the demolition material. Various road surfaces (asphalt and concrete) as well as unbound layers of the road structure and soil material from surrounding areas that are to be used for the new bridge construction must be sampled and analysed.
Under the direction of our colleague Patrick Lüke, twelve core drillings, six bedding samples, one topsoil sample and one small pile-driving borehole as well as various samples of broken concrete were taken in the investigation area within two days.
