WHAT WE DO

After the end of the coal mining industry, many new commercial, residential and leisure areas are being built on former industrial wasteland in the Ruhr region as part of the structural change.

In Bergkamen, in the eastern Ruhr area, TABERG Ingenieure GmbH is providing expert advice on the site preparation of the former Haus Aden 1 / 2 coal mine.

Around the new 6.6-hectare Adensee lake, a modern urban quarter is being created on an area of 54 hectares with the "Water City Aden". Wasserstadt Aden is part of the Bergkamen/Lünen Garden of the Future as part of the International Garden Exhibition 2027.

Construction work has been underway since the end of 2017 and will continue for several years to come. Our colleagues at TABERG drew up the remediation plan and were responsible for the earthworks planning and tendering of the construction work. They were also responsible for the expert construction supervision, construction management and overall construction management for the site preparation and soil remediation. In total, over 1 million cubic metres of soil were moved.

The drop plate compaction work is currently being carried out. What looks like holes in a Swiss cheese are the depressions created when a drop weight weighing several tonnes compacts the ground from a height of almost 20 metres.
