We consider occupational health and safety right from the start.

NEWS: In its latest analysis of accidents at work in 2020, the German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the commercial sector found that the number of accidents in 2020 fell by an average of 11.4 % across all economic sectors compared to 2019. A closer look reveals a very different distribution in the individual economic sectors. For example, there were reductions of more than 40 % in the catering and accommodation sector and almost 27 % in the arts, entertainment and recreation sector, which were mainly due to coronavirus-related restrictions such as the closure of theatres, museums, zoos, gyms and swimming pools in these economic sectors. The number of accidents at work in the provision of other business services, which also includes travel agencies and tour operators, also fell by more than 23 %. The number of accidents in the provision of financial and insurance services also fell significantly by more than 36 %.

In the construction industry, on the other hand, the reduction was only 0.1 %; in the real estate and housing sector, there was even an increase of 7 %.

The accident figures often show particularly serious consequences, especially in the case of fall accidents. With almost 35,000 cases, these contribute significantly to the number of accidents, especially in the construction industry. More than 75 % of fall accidents are attributable to employees who were performing a movement without carrying out any work or transport. Only around 7 % had fall accidents while working with hand tools and around 6.7 % while handling objects.

The statistics also show that, at 33.7 %, hand injuries are the most frequently affected body part in the workplace. Of the hand injuries, 20 % can be attributed to injuries to the thumb, 18 % to the index finger and 13 % to the middle finger.

When planning construction projects, the members of the Mull und Partner Group have always included the topic of "occupational safety" in their planning right from the start in order to ensure safe and healthy working conditions.
