In the Blumenviertel neighbourhood in Berlin's Neukölln district, a groundwater drainage system is currently being operated to support the remediation of contaminated sites.
Once the remediation of the contaminated site has been completed and the water permit has expired, new concepts for groundwater regulation will be required, as buildings belonging to private owners whose basements are not properly sealed against pressing groundwater are protected in the area of influence of the extraction wells. If the system is switched off, the groundwater level will rise. This rise is to be counteracted by suitable dewatering measures.
The Berlin Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection (SenUVK) commissioned Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH (M&P) with the preparation and handover of turnkey plans for groundwater drainage in decentralised systems for individual groups of owners.
On 12 May 2021, the first group of owners who took up the SenUVK offer were provided with the detailed planning documents.
