1st OffVali workshop in Leipzig on quality management in offshore explosive ordnance search
Sonja Krawczyk represents Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH Hannover on 6 April 2017 at the 1st OffVali Workshop in Leipzig on the topic of quality management in offshore explosive ordnance search: Requirements for the results of preliminary exploration
Explosive ordnance contamination is a cost and risk factor in ground preparation. Proof that the project areas are free of explosive ordnance is provided by the client. This verification is currently not subject to any known standards or quality assurance. There is no clearly assigned responsibility for this issue in the EEZ. When developing the subsoil, the following aspects must be taken into account with regard to the risk scenario of explosive ordnance contamination:
- Occupational safety of employees
- Protection of material assets (technology and equipment)
- Planning security for costs, avoidance of downtime and associated compensation payments
The following additional quality criteria were discussed in this context:
- Extensive source research
- Traceability and transparency
- Source evaluation with specialised knowledge
- Analysis of influencing factors for positional inaccuracies
- Assessment of risks in connection with other planning conditions
A historical exploration is a necessary prerequisite for a comprehensive preliminary exploration in order to obtain a comprehensive picture of the situation on the seabed and as a basis for the technical exploration and to be able to better identify and explore possible hazards in order to avoid risks for personnel, equipment and project planning.
